All siblings grew up in Pollock and have never forgotten their upbringing in a small town setting. Their mother Ruth Clinton, along with another woman, started the Dogwood Trail. These 2 decided on the location of the trail, and with the assistance of the Kisatchie Forestry people, had maps printed so they could be passed out at the businesses in town.
The Grangers came to Pollock at the turn of the 20th century and became heavily involved in the town. The Clintons, Ruth's paternal family, settled in the central Louisiana area in the early 1800s.
