Cephas Bowie, Jr., the current Police Juror for District 3 (Colfax).  Cephas graduated

Baton Rouge with a major in Civil Engineering and minor in Urban Transportation.                                                   Cephas also holds the advanced certification of Professional Engineer.

During his professional career, Cephas served in the Louisiana National Guard, and in the U.S. Army as a Transportation Officer where he commanded a transportation company and served as a logistical officer in the position of Captain.  Cephas was employed by the DOTD for over 29 years holding the positions of Project Engineer, District Laboratory Engineer, and District Maintenance Engineer.  He retired in August 2010 as Assistant District Administrator of Engineering.

Cephas is the parent of 4 adult children and 3 grandsons.  His many interests and hobbies include farming, handling cows and horses, all sports, and traveling.  He is a member of Trinity United Baptist Church where he serves as Deacon, Treasurer, and Sunday School Superintendent.

Cephas is very active in our parish serving the area as a Board Member of the Grant Parish Library and District 08 Federal Credit Union. He is also a County Committee Member of the Grant/Rapides Farm Service Agency, President of Zone Two Water System, and 1st Vice-President of the Rapides Chapter of Southern University Alumni.

The Grant Parish Chamber of Commerce is honored to have such an accomplished member on our team!  He states, “Farming is in my blood.  I like planting crops and observing them grow (harvesting is payday!)  Likewise, my cows and horses are fun to be around. I am proud of Colfax, Grant Parish, Louisiana, and our United States….all are Great!”
